All Things Christmas...

Wow! What a Christmas! We had lots of food, family, fun and lots of presents for a particular little girl. This year seemed to be the Year of the Never Ending Christmas. It seemed to go on and on and on, which was great to see everyone but we have one tired one year old.

Killian got to spend a lot of time with her Papa Craig and Grandma Janella. She started to cry when Papa Craig first walked in the door to say hi, but we quickly got her picture of Papa that she says hi to all the time. After a minute I think she started to put the two together and warmed right up. The curse of living hundreds of miles away from small children. So to help Killian meet all the new family in May, we will need to start rotating some other family pictures for her to talk to.

Killian loved having so many people to play with and walk around with. I think everyone probably put in a couple miles just walking around the house. She really likes to hold on to your hand and walk from room to room and look at everything there is to play with. After several passes she finally will pick something to play with, but just for a minute. She got lots of new toys, books and clothes. She got a very pretty new Christmas dress that her Grandma Graff made. And it came with a little teddy bear too, but she calls everything a puppy so it's a puppy. Her Aunt Katie sent her some felt food (so cute), which she tried to eat so she a bit angry when she realized it was fake. She loves to have the pasta "rain" down on her. She is trying very hard to blow the pasta noodles off of her hand like Mommy and Daddy, mostly she just spits all over it.

We were lucky to have nice weather so everyone could get into the Quad Cities with no problems. And it meant Tater could stay outside a lot and not be a spaz inside. He is so good with Killian and she loves that dog, but man does that tale hurt when he whips you!

After several days of opening presents and eating endless amounts of food, we decided to relax with my sister and brother-in-law at their house. Well, to be honest they got a Wii and we all wanted to play it! Killian has toys to play with now that her cousin Sam is here. Plus she had her Papa Craig there to spoil her. Sean won the first round of bowling, I got second which just proves that Wii bowling is nothing like real life bowling! We also tried some golf, baseball and tennis. I like the golf and tennis, but the baseball is my new enemy! 13 years of playing slow pitch does not make for good Wii fast pitch timing! Sean and Dave we able to try out the boxing, but they need another nunchuk to fight each other. Sean worked up quite a sweat! He really got into it. Dave had to remind him not to throw the controller into their new TV!

Killian was so exhausted by Sunday that we stayed at home just the three of us and played and napped all day. We hung up our new pictures and played some cards too. I learned I do not have a poker face, nor do I pay attention enough to be good at Texas Holdem'.

Overall Christmas was awesome, exhausting, but awesome! We can't wait for May to be around family and meet some of our new family! Now to think of some New Year resolutions.....

Our Stocking are Hung

I forgot to post this picture of our Christmas Shelf Sean made for us to hang Christmas stockings on, and then who knows what will take their place after the holidays. This shelf matches our coat rack very well. Now Sean is getting requests to make more for our family and friends.

Here is an up close shot of the detail (and the black and white pic is Paula as a baby)
And of course here is some pictures of Killian playing with all the new toys she got for her birthday. This girl sure is going to be spoiled every December with her birthday and Christmas. Lucky Girl! This is one of Killian's favorite toys. It plays music and tosses balls for her to chase. This is Killian stealing her cousin Sam's presents while I picked up her mess.

Coming Soon to Mailboxes and Computers Near You...

I just wanted to tell everyone to keep their eyes on the mailbox because I sent out our Family Christmas cards. And I am making myself start/continue/finish the Save the Date cards for the wedding.
Also, Killian is walking! She can walk all by herself now! She does really well until she gets too excited and starts jumping, clapping or dancing. Sean and I have to charge the camcorder but hopefully we will get a good video tonight to show her off!

Birthday Party!

Killian would like to thank everyone for her birthday well wishes and presents. She knows she is such a lucky girl to have so many friends and family members that love her to death! Killian was a very good 1st birthday girl. She took two extra long naps before her party so she could be happy and refreshed for her company. She made sure to greet and play with everyone.

After playing with he guests Killian ate her diner so she could open presents and get to the cake. She sat in Daddy's lap and opened all her presents. She smiled and played with everyone before moving to the next one. Here are some highlights:

Sean and I made 3 cakes for the party. A yellow cake with chocolate frosting (both reduced sugar) for Killian. A yellow and chocolate cake with chocolate and vanilla frosting for the adults. Then there was the chocolate cake with chocolate frosting cake from left over batter and frosting. Can you guess who did the chocolate/chocolate one?

Here are some more pictures from Killian's Birthday Party!

Killian loves her cousin Adam!

Sean and I feel very lucky to have some family so close to us here in Illinois. We spend a lot of time with Dave, Sarah, Adam and Sammy. Killian LOVES Adam! She lights up as soon as she sees him. She is now big enough, let me rephrase that...she is now OLD enough to really start playing with Adam. He has two younger sisters at his moms house so he is amazing with her. He holds her hand and walks all around the house. He is even strong enough to carry her! Killian thinks Adam is just the funniest person. She has just recently taken to wrestling with Adam. She will chase him all around the living room until he falls down and then she speed crawls to him saying "get'im get'im". Adam will just wait for her to come over and then she basically body slams the poor kid. She is a very wise almost one year old, she knows that if she sprawls out across him she wins. Unfortunately when she tried this with mommy all she did was head-butt me right in the mouth and then she laughed. She did give me a hug and a kiss after daddy told her she hurt mommy.

I know we can not wait to see how Adam and Killian's relationship grows over time.

PS- Killian and Sammy might take some time. When we put Sammy in her lap she said "Hi Baby" and then pushed him away after poking him on the head. I guess there is something to be said about playing with someone your own size!

Killian meets Santa!

Every Christmas season out at my Library we have a Christmas Open House with cookies, coco, mini trees and Santa. We buy 2 foot trees for the people in town to pick up and decorate for the tree auction. This year we had quite a large turn out for the trees, I think the final number was 39 trees. I get the joy of putting all the trees up in the community room and trying to plug them all in without burning down the town. P.S. I was successful again this year! All the proceeds go back to the library and we get to buy even more books!
Sean and Killian came out and spent most of the day with me. Killian was of course the highlight of the party. She was smiling and saying hi to everyone. She really liked the cookies, Big Surprise! She did so good, not fussy at all and was happy to play and meet new people.Until Santa arrived at the party. She kept her eyes on him the entire time not quite sure what to think. She would give him a little wave here and there but mostly just stared at him. So Sean brought her over to meet Santa and sit on his lap.
As you can see she was not a fan of Santa. If we even walked near Santa she would start to cry. Santa was trying so hard to get her to like him, but he lost that battle. After about an hour Killian did warm up slightly to Santa, just long enough to get a candy cane from him!

Christmas Time in the QC

I am really trying this year to get into the whole Christmas spirit with a tree, decorations and I may even stomach some Christmas music. I know that last part probably sounds goofy to some of you, but for some bizarre reason I am not a big fan of Christmas music. Not all the music, but mostly the stuff I am forced to listen to on the radio over and over again! It has already started on 1 local station is 24 hour Christmas music and I know the others play Christmas songs randomly throughout the day too. So since I have a daughter who loves to play with all the toys that play music I will "take one for the team" and listen to Christmas music. My favorite songs (and have been the only tolerable two for years) have to be Carol of the Bells by Mannheim Steamroller and Christmas Canon by Trans-Siberian Orchestra. I love these songs and could listen to them all day long. Well maybe not All day.

Sean has already put up our Christmas Tree and decorated it very nicely! He sure has some interior decorating talent. Killian and Tater like to stare at the tree, but both have been surprisingly good about leaving it alone. We even hung a coat rack Sean made and put some Christmas decor and our first family picture on it.

We hope to finish strong with the decorating since we get to have Christmas at our house this year. Nothing too big just Sean, me, Killian, my dad and step mom, Grandma Rosenthal, Sarah, Dave, New Baby Sammy and of course Tater will be there to reek havoc on everyone. This is probably a small gathering compared to the Graff Holidays, but it will be our test run for someday attending a Graff Christmas!

Happy Thanksgiving!

Sean, Killian and I want to wish everyone a Happy Thanksgiving! We are very thankful for our happy, healthy and beautiful daughter! We had a very nontraditional thanksgiving this year, we spent it in the hospital. Our new little nephew decided he did not want to wait until his due date (Jan 3) to come into this world. He wanted some turkey instead. Sarah and little baby Samuel John are both doing great! He is so cute and is pretty big for coming so early. He was 6 pounds 9 ounces, 19 3/4 inches and big cone head like his mommy did! Love ya Sarah!!

Twilight Insight!

As Sean was trying to fall asleep the other night I was busy trying to explain the first 2 books and the 5th unreleased book of the Twilight series. This series has sucked me in to the point I actually went out and purchased the books because patrons are not bringing the books back on time. I was trying to explain all about the books, since we all know he will not read them. Then all of a sudden it hit me!!!!! I am always cold and he is like a human furnace! Therefore it MUST mean that I am a Vampire and he is a Werewolf!!!

I know, how cool is that! Now.....what does that make Killian?!?!?

Who knew a dog cage had so many uses!

When Sean and I purchased our giant cage we were just hoping that this would help eliminate all the things Tater has eaten while we were gone. For those of you new to the adventures of Tater these are a few things he has destroyed...all computer cables, our porch steps, flip-flops, bras, package of printer paper, pillow, needle and thread, and our poor rocking chair legs. As you can see we really needed a cage for our "special" dog. We went for a bigger cage so he could have room to grow. He loves his cage and so does Killian! She loves to unlock the doors so when we put Tater in he escapes out the side door. She locks him in the cage if he tries to save his bone from her. Mostly, she likes to climb in the cage with Tater. He isn't quite sure what to do, but she just giggles and says hi puppy, hi baby, ohhhh!

Jumping Ship!

Since our subscription will soon be up for Killian's Totsite I thought I would look more into this popular alternative. So please be patient as I am learning my way through this new format and all the cool stuff that is available out there.

Quick Killian Update:
She has 4 teeth now!
Can say pumpkin (well pahkin), Sarah (ssssssssah), pretty, cookie, and she likes to yell jibberish when she is mad!
She can crawl up and down grandmas stairs! Can slide feet first off mom and dads bed at a moments notice! Loves the wind!
