Summer Fun Pt. 3

I believe the high light of the trip was the Animal Safari Park. You get to drive through the park and feed all sorts of animals. We were able to all ride together wince we have the minivan. I was tucked safely away in the far back with Jameson, so no dirty icky animals could get us. Killian started off in the front, but quickly moved back once the animals started putting the entire heads in the car window.
I don't think we have ever laughed so hard during the drive. My dad sat up front with Sean and was in charge of feeding. Let me just say he is not a big animal or dirty germ person. So making him stick his hand out for the animals to eat from was priceless.
The animals know the drill and do not hesitate to come up to your car for food. They will get a little feisty if you try to stop feeding them. Especially the zebras! There was a few times that I thought my car was going to be destroyed! I had camels chewing on my mirrors, an ostrich pecking my windows and some really big horns getting way too close to my van.
Our first customer

Well, hello!

Trying to toss food to the bears was a bit difficult.

Baby deer swimming in the pond.

The crazy Zebras!!

Awe, aren't they cute??

Don't stop feeding them.

or else this is in your face!

I think he was mad at us

Camels getting some food.

He went to every window on the bus.

And boy he sure did stink!

I love these "little" pigs!

This I believe is one of the Zedonks. Part Zebra and part donkey.

Bird attacking my window

Oh, they spotted us!

I thought for sure these guys were going to scratch up the van.
After the drive through part they have a mini zoo set up. We were lucky to be there when they were feeding the wild cats. It was very intimidating.
Sleepy bear getting a drink

Little monkey waiting for some fruit loops

These pipes were so much fun to feed the animals

Feeding the giraffe

Grandma Janella and Killian fedding the giraffe

Notice I made sure to have Killian between me and the giraffe. Yes, I am the mother of the year

Time for dinner with the big cats!

They each got their own pile of various meats.

Jameson got a little hungry too

Not a single one tried to take meat from another.

Summer Fun Pt. 2

Sean and I decided that we needed a quick, easy and *cheap* family vacation this year. We came up with the plan to spend a few days down in Missouri with my dad and step-mom. We went the first week of July and were looking forward to seeing some amazing fireworks. But of course the Midwest weather had other plans. DROUGHT! Since the ground was so dry many counties had a fireworks ban to help ensure there would be no fires. Can you say bummer?
But don't worry we had plenty of other things to keep us busy. I was not the best at taking a lot of pictures but I did get some.
Our first outing we headed down to Branson Landing. They have this amazing shopping center with a water and fire show that runs all day and night. It is right up against a river. There are Duck (car/boat) rides and a paddle wheel boat ride. We decided to save the absurd amount of money they cost and just enjoy the show on the land. The shows are synchronized to different songs. We could have watched those all day. But there was shopping and eating to be done.

The big metal pillars shot fire

There is one of the paddle wheel boats coming to watch the show.
We also took trips to Silver Dollar City, A Discovery Center Museum, played in the pool at grandma and grandpas, rode around in the John Deere tractor, and more....but I of course don't have pictures. I did get lots of pictures at the Animal Safari. More on that in Pt. 3!

Summer Fun Pt. 1

I guess with it being the end of August I have failed to update the blog with our summer activities. So let's just jump right in!
This summer was yet another hot and humid Illinois summer. We make the best of it with swimming pools and central air.
We did manage to venture out to play at the splash park which is right along the Mississippi River.
Killian and Daddy with the Mississippi behind them.

This is the Arsenal Lock and Damn.
Not fun to get stuck on it while open.

Mommy and Killian, I might have just pretended to throw her over the ledge. :)
