As of September 1st Uncle Ian has been here visiting us. Sean was completely left in the dark about Ian coming to visit. We thought it would be fun to surprise him! It was a very difficult day getting Ian here without Sean knowing.
Of course, everything that could go wrong did. It rained in the morning so Sean couldn't ride his motorcycle to work so he got a ride with a co-worker. Just before lunch he found out the casket he was making needed to be done a day earlier (that day) so he could send it to Utah. So I got a call asking if I could leave early and pick him up so he could get the casket done. Now I had to do a little fibbing here and tell him I was stuck at work with no one to fill in for me because I knew I had to pick up Ian at 4. So we called my mom and she picked him up and took him home. Sean was able to get the casket finished and needed to get it to the UPS warehouse by 6. He still had to wait for me to get off work, buy a bigger box, package the whole thing and send it off. He called me at work a little before 4, but I had already left. Unfortunately my co-worker told him I left already so he called my cell phone and said something about getting mail and leaving early. He thought I left early to pick him up. So at 4:30 when I still wasn't home he started calling me. I ignored all his calls until I was a couple blocks away from home with Ian hiding in the back of the van. To say Sean was getting a little mad and worried is an understatement. As I put the can in park I popped the back so he could load the casket, as he walked back he was saying something about me taking so long and should have been home by now. Then he rounded the corner and saw Ian laying there! He was very confused and surprised. Sean gave Ian a quick hug and then told everyone to get in the car we gotta go!
Going to diner the day Ian arrived.
Killian has loved having her Uncle Ian visiting. Sean and I were able to take a long 4 day weekend this Labor Day. The boys cut the grass, trimmed bushes, worked in the garage, and played silly little brother games that involve hitting each other until one quits (???who does that???). We had a cook out Saturday night with friends and family. My nephew, Sam, also loves Ian.
Look how good those bushes are!
Sunday afternoon we went to watch the go cart races before another cook out at my moms house. The weather has been really nice this last week. The horrible humidity is finally leaving for the year. We didn't stay long at the races because a car went spinning out of control right into the fence were the kids and guys were standing. The car flipped and spun all around, knocked over a couple people, but amazingly no one hurt- not even the driver. So I was done with all this dangerous racing nonsense. We headed home for a quick nap before diner.
Ian and Sean!
Boys will be boys. And yes they play hitting games. But they also work hard and get big stuff done. Glad you are all having so much fun! Tell Ian I miss him.
