Killian and Mommy's Memorial Weekend

Sadly, Sean has been working ridiculous amounts of overtime this last 2 weeks and there is still more to come! So Killian and I got to have a long weekend to ourselves. We played lots down stairs in her toy room since it was very hot and humid. We watched the movie Up! Killian loved it, mom was crying at the beginning because I am a sap! After the movie Killian decided that Tater should be able to talk like Doug. She kept trying to get Tater to speak but he would just keep jump all around her and lick her face. She got so mad at him and began to yell at him. I couldn't help but laugh. After a minute of not speaking to him she decided that he needed to go upstairs for a time out. He did not listen to her.

On Sunday we went to the Children's Museum in Iowa. I have never been to the museum and I have to say it was pretty cool. It took Killian about 20 minutes to stop staring at all the people and start to play with the all the exhibits. We were not able to go through the dinosaurs side because Killian was very scared the dinosaurs were going to bite her. After she got her fill of the stuff inside we headed outside to the play ground and the water exhibit. Killian LOVED playing with the water stuff. The only down side was that there was some older kids out in the water section that were not very welled behaved and of course the parents just sat there and watched as they would take Killian's bucket, toys and water. So Mom to the rescue! I have no shame in telling kids to not touch my child or anything she is holding, and I have no shame in telling Killian very loudly in front of parents that allowing children to run around and bully other kids in not something mommy and daddy will let Killian do. And yes I then glared (through my sunglasses) at the parents sitting on the bench. I think I get this "attitude" from work. There are so many times when parents will just let their children run, scream, throw books and destroy the kids room while they look for a book or sit on the internet. Okay that minor soap box moment is over!

Enjoying the museum

Killian loved this jeep!

This sink was teaching kids to sing Happy Birthday while washing your hands.
Killian was trying to figure out where the kids singing were hiding.

Killian thought I was going to hit her on the head, I didn't!

Playing some music

This floor was awesome! It is a pond with fish swimming in it.
As you walked over it, the water would ripple out and the fish would swim away
like you were really in the water.
Making some calls.

Water Time!

Notice the lack of other children? I think I scared them away.
Muhwahahahaha!

On Monday, Killian and I once again played in her toy room. I enjoyed many, many, many tea parties. At nap time I guess Killian was overly tired and slept for 3 hours. I got lots done and then waited for her to wake up so we could meet Stefanie and the Imax to watch Shrek Forever After in 3-D. Stefanie had her nephew, Austin, and Sean's nephew, David. This was Killian's first experience with the Imax and with 3-D. She did get spooked a couple of times, but over all she did great. She pretty much watched the second half of the movie without her glasses because she said she couldn't see with them on. The movie was cute and she loved the Shrek and Donkey/Dragon babies. I wish they would have been in the movie more. After we left the movie we were able to meet Sean for diner. Killian was very excited to see her daddy. She was bouncing off the walls at the restaurant trying to tell Sean all the stuff she had been doing.

  1. Sounds like a fun weekend. Too bad Sean had to work. Don't you wish they had a 5 and under day at the children's museum? We had the same sort of problems when we went last time, but the kids were on a field trip and there weren't enough chaperones. Grrr.
