I had a monthly check-up the end of last week to meet the other doctor at our practice and to go over anything from the ultrasound at the previous appointment. Which the ultrasound was fantastic, minus it being almost an hour late and me having to take 3 pee breaks. As most of you know we are having a little boy. Now I say little, but if history repeats itself I do not make little babies. I had to do the 1-hr glucose test early on and another one next week. I passed the first one with flying colors! With Killian I failed the 1-hr but passed the 3-hr test.
We were talking to the doctor about wanting to avoid a repeat c-section and she said they would have an ultrasound scheduled for 1 week prior to my due date to check the size of the baby. If he is measuring large like his sister then we would more then likely do a c-section. So she informs us she will schedule that for May 7th unless I have gone into labor before that. I politely say, "No, no I am due June 9th." She checks the chart and tells us that according to the ultra-sound tech my new due date is May 14th! (Which happens to be my sisters due date!) I think Sean and I just sat there as our jaws hit the floor! We both questioned her and said we don't believe it. That is almost 4 weeks early. I am prepared and anticipating this little boy, but really he is already measuring 4 weeks ahead. So we talked to the doctor and tried to wrap our heads around a May baby and not the June baby we were expecting. And yes we are aware that babies come whenever they decide or are physically removed in Killian's case. May just does not work for us. Sean gets his vacation time in June and I am looking forward to a summer off and not worrying about running the summer reading program at work.
After the doctor left we went to see the dietitian. Which is typical for this office and since I am below the weight they want me to be at we got to listen to a lady tell me how important it is to eat lots of food. Um....hello you just told me my son is 4 weeks ahead of schedule I think I am eating more then enough for him to thrive! Before we left we talked to the doctor and a nurse again because we just couldn't believe it. So they agreed to talk to the ultra-sound tech and have her run the numbers again and get back to us.
The next morning I got a call from the office and the sweet nurse told me "The tech mistakenly wrote May instead of June! Haha so sorry to cause all that panic."
So baby Jameson is still scheduled for June 9th. He was and is developing just perfectly. He likes to hide very low and kick his mom a LOT! He also thinks it is great fun to have a party at night while I try to sleep. He does not like me laying on my left side. He kicks, elbows, punches and gator rolls until I finally give up and switch sides. Sean thinks this is so very funny, which most times I do too. He has already been scolded for beating up mommy far too much.
Killian has been such a sweet Big Sister. She is so excited for Baby Jameson to come. She gives him lots of hugs, kisses and sings to him all the time. This past weekend she asked us how baby Jameson is going to get here. Sean and I looked at each other and started off with whatever we could come up with . I choose the short, sweet, simple version of mommy will go to the hospital and the nurses and doctors will help mommy get the baby from my belly. Yes I chickened out and was not prepared to answer such a question. Next up Sean! Sean told Killian that I will go to the hospital, where Jameson will take a trip down a tunnel and have a doctor catch him! This led Killian to get upset because SHE wants to catch her little brother. So Sean had to explain that the doctor has to do it, then mommy and daddy get to catch him. I just sat there starring at him in utter amazement. I could not believe this was what he came up with. So now when she asks me I just tell her I have him at the hospital.
"The ultrasound tech mistakenly wrote May instead of June." Seriously?! No wonder you were thrown for a loop! My goodness.
ReplyDeleteI love Killian's reactions!
